About Annika

Hi there, I’m Annika. I love empowering people to be their own best advocate. I have been a special education teacher and learning specialist for over 10 years. I have educational experience in all core subjects with a love of writing and math, executive function strategies, and study skills.

I have worked extensively with students with a variety of learning differences including dyslexia, ADHD, dyscalculia, NVLD, and generalized anxiety. When we work together you will notice my sense of humor, my flexible and creative thinking, and my ability to be straightforward and get to the point.

As an special educator and executive function coach, I am trained to understand an individual child’s learning challenges and work with them to succeed in and out of the classroom setting. Success in school (traditional or homeschool) is important and finding success within that system helps a student feel capable and empowered. My goal is to not only help students develop success in schooling, but also teach them how to apply these skills in life beyond school from job acquisition to money management and greater independence.

When it comes to teaching, I believe in developing strong, trusting relationships where both teacher and student can learn in a respectful environment. Learning happens when someone can feel safe, engaged in the topic, and have autonomy in their own learning. Learning is innate, while schooling is a system to be learned and mastered. With the right tools and practice, success can be found in a variety of environments. I work to develop trust and take the whole child into account, as we navigate their own unique path.

I live with my husband, our kids, one deaf dog and a feral house cat. We live on a few acres in New Hampshire, where I enjoy gardening, walks in the woods, and baking everything from brownies to bread.

I look forward to learning more about you and your family,
